Kirstin Kleyn, Composer

Born in Cape Town, Kirstin began her musical journey at the age of 8, when she began taking recorder and music theory lessons at school. The next year she began piano lessons, and a lifelong love of music was born.

After high school, Kirstin went on to study for her Bachelor of Music at Stellenbosch University, where she specialised in composition and orchestration under the guidance of Professor Hans Roosenschoon. During her studies she composed a number of works for various instruments and ensembles, working alongside her colleagues to bring these pieces to life.

Since graduating, Kirstin has continued to compose and arrange music, as well as teach piano from her home studio in Cape Town. She is passionate about creating beautiful music that resonates with performers as well as audiences. Through teaching, she hopes to inspire the next generation of musicians and composers to follow their own musical journeys.
